Question about GPA

Which is more important: weighted or unweighted?

unweighted but the fact that a person has taken a tougher courseload is more important. A person with a 3.7 unweighted in all honors/ Ap classes would look better than a person with a 3.9 unweighted in easy classes

At selective schools the unweighted GPA is used inorder to have consitency amongst applicants. The college then looks at the school profile to determine if you have taken the most rigerous courses your school offers. At many selective schools there is already an expectation that you are taking AP/honors courses if they are offered.

but what if the UW GPA scale at high schools are different..

my scale is harsh and it make my UW GPA look bad...and I have been told selective colleges dont recalculate GPA.

i think they can see that also by class rank and other applicants that may apply from your school.
