Question About GPA

Ok so I attend a high school that uses the 8 point grade scale and on my freshman report card i received a 2.67 or 85. However according to college board most colleges convert it to
A+ (97-100) = 4.0
A (93-96) = 4.0
A- (90-92) = 3.7

B+ (87-89) = 3.3
B (83-86) = 3.0
B- (80-82) = 2.7

C+ (77-79) = 2.3
C (73-76) = 2.0
C- (70-72) = 1.7

D+ (67-69) = 1.3
D (65-66) = 1.0
E/F (below 65) = 0.0

does this mean colleges will convert that to a 3.0? If you are confused with my schools gpa and grade point scale please visit http://www.orcsd.org/Sau/SchoolBoard/Grading%20Scale%20Freq%20Ask%20Questions%2005%2016%2007.pdf

bump.........................................

bump...........................................

man, that sucks that your HS does that to you. When colleges look at your grades, they don't just see a GPA, they see all the grades in all the classes you have taken, and they'll rate your classes on their own system.

Hope that helps!

so i'm guessing it can only get better?

Probably, most colleges, if they do give you fewer points for a B-, won't give you less than a 2.7. I'm pretty sure no college out there would evaluate your GPA as worse than a 2.67, and most will probably see it as a 3.0, or better if you are taking challenging classes.

our school is pretty weird they want to look like they are a hard school or something

Colleges will usually just look at you in the scope of your own school.

Heh... I guess so. I wouldn't worry too much, colleges just want to see that you're taking decently hard classes and getting good grades (B's). If you're planning on going to a state school then your grades are fine.

our school is crazy competitive. if they looked at me in the scope of my own school it wouldn't be fair i don't think.

That sucks... what kind of school are you going to?

it's a public school but it's got a really good reputation throughout new hampshire and new england. it's really hard i have an 85 and i'm ranked in the bottom half of my class so it kind of sucks.

bump................................

edit: wrong board

is it really? can you tell me the correct one

bump..... so my question is do they convert the gpa to tht standard one tht i posted.

last bump......
