My question is fairly simple. When universities are looking at your marks what grades do they look at? My understanding is that they look at grade 9, 10, and 11. However, I am unsure if they look at grade 12 or not? I have been told that they only look at grade 12 first term by some and others have told me that some universities go back and later look at your entire grade 12 scores. Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks.

if you are applying regular decision then they look at your grades all the way up to end of the first semester or senior year. they use the final semester results to decide the fate of those who were waitlisted and perhaps to rescind a few students acceptances for poor academic performance.

Some schools don't even look at 9th grade. Also, colleges will usually see your first semester Senior year grades when you apply Regular Descision.

some schools (eg michigan) don't look at senior year grades when making decisions. of course, if you get all D's senior year, your acceptance would be rescinded.
