I am currently a EE junior at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville and plan on getting my MSEE after graduation. My question is should I use the 3+2 BS-MS program at SIUE or should I apply to WashU-St. Louis for my MS? I have a grant from the state that will pay for my BS and most of a MS if I go to a state school. Would a MS from WashU be worth the money?

How much more money are we talking about here? In my purely personal opinion, if you have to get into debt for more than $20k, it's not worth it.

It would definitely be more than $20K.

Go to UIUC, if possible.

UIUC is too far away,I live near St. Louis. I am also looking in to UM-Rolla, they have a distance education program with UM-St. Louis. I know Rolla was a ranked school a couple years back and a MS would cost around $18,000.

Apply for WashU and see if you can get money. Typically, there are some research assistantships available for graduate students. Mostly they go to doctoral students though.

Otherwise, getting a MS degree in engineering from UM-Rolla is excellent alternative because it is a solid program, especially if you want to stay in the St. Louis area.

Still, I think UIUC is the best option among the three if you can relocate there.
