Question about grades PLEASE help!?

Okay so my question is, do a bunch of A minuses look bad in comparison to A's? I know it's still a 4.0 GPA either way, but will getting say straight A minuses give off a bad impression...like a person barely scraped by? Because this semester I feel like that will happen to me, and theres not much I can do about it :/

My grades right now are:
Band: A
AP Calc BC: A- (possibly B+ but I'm doing all I can to make sure that won't happen)
AP English: A- (possibly A if I do very well on the final)
AP Spanish: A
AP US History: A-
AP Chemistry: A- (possibly A if I do very well on the final)

So....should I worry about having to ace all my finals and get A's, or just let it go and keep the A minuses? I'm looking at entrance into top colleges (I realize grades are only one component of the app and there is much more that goes into consideration).

Thanks!

Well at my school A- affects gpa…

You should, of course, try to get some A-'s up to As. But you’ll be in the ballpark for top colleges anyways, so no sweat if you can’t.

Does it look terrible if I end up with 4 A-s and 2 A’s this semester? And I’m a junior this year…most critical year

I would say it doesn’t really affect you because every school and every teacher grades differently. Think about it the other way. Do straight A+s look better than straight A’s? I wouldn’t think so. Some of my teacher don’t give out A+'s, even if you have over 100%. Other teachers of mine don’t give out A-'s, even if you have a 90%. My Bio teacher calls anything above an 88 an A-, and anything above a 90 an A. Because of all these different grading scales, it seems to me that a college can’t really judge you for a few minuses on your transcript.

My worst grades were junior year (well…maybe not anymore now that I’m already in college and therefore practically a 2nd semester senior). I got a B+ and still got into a “top school” I guess.
