I tend to get realllly stressed out about grades and so this year it seems to be that I will have all A’s and one C+ in physics. I feel like this one C+ is going to prevent me from getting into the schools I want to go to. Is a C actually that bad? And even though I’m a sophomore I’m realllly scared about how this will affect my future. Have people with C’s every gotten into a top twenty schoool?
I’m sorry I’m ranting but I’m just so freaked out I don’t know what I’m going to do.
You can look at that way, or you can look at other ways:
-
THis is an opportunity to figure out why you got a C+. Did you take a more advanced class you weren’t ready for? Did you go to all classes? Did you read the chapters? Did you do all the homework? Did you get help from teacher? Form a study group? Get a tutor? Do extra problems?

Maybe Physics isn’t the area for you

Maybe just maybe, like 98% of students you will be looking at other colleges rather than top 20 colleges that you can afford and will fit you better. There is a college out there for you and you will do just fine.
Well getting one C is the GPA equivalent of two Bs. So your UW GPA should be what a 3.8 or a little higher? That’s still pretty damn good. Only like HYPSM would a 3.8 be looked down on. Just do very well next year. No need to worry that much.
I had a C+ in chem honors sophomore year. I got into Emory (21)
Thank you guys! You’re all 100% right!
