Question about Grants and GPA

Does GPA you get in college affect the amount of grant money you receive in the next year?

I think it did in my DD's case. First yr, she received a school grant in addition to a fixed amount merit award. Her sophomore yr grant was $1000 more than freshman yr, even though my DH's salary increased. We were surprised but figured it was due to her 4.0 GPA. Who knows? We didn't complain.

If in your case, a high GPA resulted in more grant money, do you think that a lower GPA would prompt the school into giving you less grant money?

Thank you for the response by the way.

At some schools, you must meet a certain standard of academic progress to continue getting grant/scholarship money. Check with the school to find out their standards.

The question is a good one. I doubt if you would ever get a straight answer from an FA person. How grants and loans are apportioned from year to year is kind of like making sausage, better not to know the details just enjoy the result.
