Question about Harvard Admissions

So, around what score does Harvard look at your SAT/GPA and go: "That's passing," and around what scores does it get classified as "above average?"

There is a useful chart in the following link for Class of 2017 : <a href=“The Harvard Crimson | Class of 2017”>http://features.thecrimson.com/2013/frosh-survey/admissions.html</a> . This shows you the makeup of the admitted class. Hope this helps.

So roughly what percentage is: 3.82 GPA

and a 2110 (800M; 620R; 690W)?

I’m hoping that Harvard is going to look at my AP scores + My SAT/GPA and just go: “This kid can handle College coursework, let’s move onto his EC’s.” I’m not aiming for “This kid has outstanding academics.”

I’m worried they will look at that reading score and think just the opposite.

Your GPA and SAT are both in the 25th percentile.

You better make this up in your ECs or you’ll have no chance.

@Calvin689111‌ - Based on your chance-me posts, I assume that 3.82 is unweighted - you stated your weighted GPA is higher. Whether it is good enough will depend on the rigor of your coursework and the reputation of your high school. If it’s the result of a full slate of IB or AP classes at a top school, it’s going to be viewed differently than a 3.82 GPA without honors classes at a “normal” high school.

In your case, your SAT subject test and AP results are going to carry a lot of weight, and your ECs and awards seem to be strong, so I wouldn’t worry too much about the SAT scores. If you’re applying RD, try to get straight As this semester - that would definitely help your chances.
