I am the homeschool parent and I have a number of documents I wish to upload into the "Counselor" section of the Common App. There is the "School Report", "Homeschool Supplement" and an "Optional Report". What is the Optional Report used for? I cannot access it until I submit the School Report but I don't want to submit the school report until I know if there might be more places to upload documents in the Optional Report. If anyone has the answer, please respond.

Thank-you.

The Optional Report was created to allow counselors to submit grades and/or transcripts at a time of year other than when the School Report, Midyear Report, and Final Final Report are due. The expectation is that many counselors will use this form to submit first quarter or trimester grades for Early Decision applicants, though its use is certainly not limited to that function. It is identical in format to the Midyear and Final Reports, and you can find a pdf of all three here: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/DownloadForms.aspx.

Long story short: the OR should be used to update only AFTER the SR has been submitted.

Thank-you for answering my question, Winston.

Do you have any suggestions for submitting more than two documents? (The Common App. only allows schools to upload transcripts and a counselor letter) Should I just snail mail them to colleges along with whatever my son is sending in? I’ve got:

1) Official Transcripts
2) Course Descriptions (This is a 13 page document)
3) School Profile (I cannot fit it all in homeschool supplement sections) and it includes: a)homeschool philosophy b) community and school profile c) curriculum d) grading and ranking e) standardized test scores.
4) Counselor Letter/Recommendation

Thank-you.
