I submitted my housing application/$50 fee a few days after I received my admission decision -- so around the first week of December or so. From what I understand, the date you submitted your housing app is what determines your housing priority. However, I have not yet paid the enrollment deposit (I am pretty sure I want to go to UT but I am still visiting other colleges) and therefore I haven't yet received my housing contract. Since I haven't gotten my contract & haven't yet selected my housing preferences, does that mean there's a chance that I won't get into the residence hall I want? I'm probably worrying over nothing but I just want to make sure.

My top choice for residence hall is Kinsolving, btw, which I toured. Loved the atmosphere and its close proximity to the College of Communication buildings (I've been accepted to that school with an undeclared major). Still not sure about my second and third choices. The only other residence halls I toured were San Jac & Jester, which are okay but kind of far away. And I'm wary of choosing a hall that I haven't been able to tour in person.

I am not sure. Some people paid the fee very early, as early as September in this cycle (basically as soon as they learned about their auto-admit decisions, which started to roll out in mid October IIRC). But how many people signed up for housing that early (or earlier than you did) and what were their housing preferences? Only UT Housing knows the answer.

How does housing work for transfers? I won’t have 30 hours until the end of my Spring semester and was told I would get my response in the end of May or early June. Will I be screwed over on housing?

Can someone please help, I am a bit confused. I sent in my app to UT right before December 1st and I then immediately filled out the UT Housing app and am pretty sure I paid the $50 fee. When I filled out the app, however, I was never asked about my preferences for a specific dorm. I was only asked if I preferred a one or two person dorm and a few other questions. When do I fill out the list of the specific dorms I want to live in?

I think you pick the dorms you want to live in when they send you your housing contract, and I don’t think they do that until you’ve accepted your admission and paid your deposit. Have you done that?

I have been accepted but I have not paid my enrollment deposit yet because I am still waiting for a few more schools on April 1st. I already paid my housing deposit a few months ago.

I think once you accept UT’s offer of admission and pay the enrollment deposit, they’ll send you a housing contract shortly. I haven’t done either of those things because I’m still not 100% sure about UT, so we’re pretty much in the same boat.

Yea that makes sense, but how do they determine which house to put you in if they base it off of when you paid the $50 deposit because I never selected my specific housing preferences in the initial housing application.

You will get a chance to choose which dorm you prefer in July. Not that they pay attention to the preference. My son choose every dorm except Creekside and was placed in Creekside. He did pay a little on the late side.

Right now, the current students have submitted their requests and these are being processed.
