Question about housing selection?

I know this is different for most schools, but are there a lot of demand for singles in housing selection? I'm a current freshman and I know the way the process itself works: seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, then freshman pick, with an inter-class lottery to decide who goes first/last within the classes.

As a freshman, would it be realistic to find a single, do you think? Or do those go very quickly? Again, obviously this differs based on school, but I was curious about the general consensus and opinions about it. Thanks in advance!

For my school, they have a very limited number of singles and will make you consolidate if at all possible unless you pay a good chunk of money (a single’s 1.5 the cost of a double here). I think singles would go pretty quickly, though.

We don’t do it by lottery though; ours is strictly by credit standing, so my advice may not be very helpful.

Single’s are more expensive here too, and I believe that a pretty accurate price relation. There are a fair number of singles though, but maybe it’s just misleading because it’s also a really big school, too. (I go to UConn).
