<p>After you get your acceptance letter - hopefully - when you hit the request housing button on umd's website do you get to pick a preference for a freshmen dorm building...</p>
<p>or when you click the button does it just tell College PArk that you want to live on campus but you can't give a suggestion/preference

<p>I think this process starts once you officially commit to UMD and pay the deposit.</p>
<p>You cannot preference your residence hall choice as a first-time freshman.</p>

<p>DS is a freshman at UMD. Keep in mind that although you cannot select your dorm, if you are Honors, Gemstone, Scholars, etc. there is Living/Learning specific dorms.</p>
<p>DS is Honors & full B/K and did request a certain dorm and was given his request with a bathroom to boot! : ) Things do happen. You have to write to the director of Res Life with your request and if there is a specific reason for it, provide the reason.</p>
