So, I got into UCLA(Pre-History Major) with a 3.83 GPA(Hold the applause). I took most of my CC courses at the LACC system(LAVC,LAMC,WLACC), to be exact, 51 Units. I did 16 at the Ventura College System(Moorpark). A couple months ago or so, I went to see my counselor at Los Angeles Mission College, and brought in my Official Transcripts from Moorpark, i was waiting for her to IGETC certify me. She said, even though, these are your "Official Transcripts", Moorpark needs to send them to us... So, I was like okay, whenever I am around Moorpark, I will drop by, and order a rush order to be sent to them. LAMC should have it by now, and I should be IGETC certified. Now, my question is.... I assume I am IGETC certified at the LACC(Will Still Drop by and speak to a counselor) but I won't be at Moorpark... Is this going to be an issue? Or will I have to have 3 different school's send my official transcripts to Moorpark College as well? My last term was at Moorpark as well.

This doesn’t make sense… IGETC has the same requirements everywhere. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/requirements/additional-requirements/igetc/ The articulated courses might be different but you should fulfill the same types and number of classes. All I know is you just need to make sure you send your single IGETC certification and you’re fine.

My LAMC counselor basically, matched the courses I took at Moorpark to their curriculum and said I was good to go, Moorpark just needed them to send it. I had heard, that when Official Transcripts are sent out, there will be a “check” on the transcripts that shows IGETC certified. While most of the school’s I attended, will show that I am, Moorpark would not. That is what threw me off, but I am viewing the IGETC Advising Form that my Counselor filled out for me, I see an asterisk that says *need official transcripts from Moorpark.

So, I just need to get a certificate then.

Technically, IGETC is not a requirement. It’s just a guide to help you follow the required course pattern. Look at your admission contract and see if your course list fits that pattern. And if you have certification from most colleges, I don’t think they’ll kick you out just for missing it from Moorpark.

Hmm i never thought about the other way around. I took classes at moorpark and lacc (most being at moorpark) and I brought my official lacc transcripts over to them and they will mark it igetc certified when i finish this spring semester. I know i need to send my lacc transcripts to ucla as well but it won’t say igetc certified but my moorpark one will. I wonder if that affects anything. I’ll ask my counselor at moorpark.

On my UC Application, I put Yes to IGETC certified, which I will be(I am not taking any courses this semester and Fall 2013 was my last term) whenever I speak to my counselor. I do not believe when UCLA views my Official Transcripts, and see’s LAMC,LAVC&WLACC(IGETC’d) and then they look at Moorpark, they go “woh woh woh, what do we have here?” I don’t believe it is a major issue, I would just want to make sure. Personally, it would be a major pain to go to Culver City, Valley Glen and Sylmar to order Rush requests, since Rush is only done in person. More than anything, I believe it is just a technicality.

@squashbanana, and please, let me know what the counselor has to say. I too, will talk to my counselor at LAMC and see what she says.

I just viewed my Admissions Contract it says this…

"If you are transferring from a California community college or a University of California campus and will complete IGETC or UC Reciprocity, respectively, submit your official certification by September 1, 2014. "

Oh, sweet, so I have until the 1st of September to turn this in.

Yeah it would be a hassle for me to get an appointment at LACC to get igetc certified. I have never met with a counselor there b/c I only took 18 units there. I don’t even know how to set one up. For me just sending lacc transcripts to moorpark and other private colleges was a hassle
Yeah I will try to ask tomorrow!

I just set up an appointment, and they said, the earliest would be May 2nd. Good grief… I think I may just contact the UCLA Admission Office Later today. I mean, if I can just send in my Official Transcripts now, then, send in my IGETC Cert later, then even better. But the only thing that throws me off, is I was told, that Official Transcripts have a check that will indicate IGETC certified or not. I have a spare Official Moorpark College transcript, it shows nothing of that sorts. So, I guess it was just nonsense, but I want to know for sure!

Only one college needs to IGETC certify you. Once they have done that, it will reflect the certification on that college’s transcripts, not the others. You do not need to go to each college you have attended to get certified. Do exactly what are doing, have all of your past colleges send your transcripts to your current college. Your current college will then evaluate all of your coursework and certify you. The certification will not and does not need to be reflected on your past colleges’ transcripts.

See, the issue is, the school’s I attended are in 2 different districts. I took most of my courses at LACC school system, to be exact, at Los Angeles Mission College, Los Angeles Valley College and West Los Angeles College. My final 16 units were completed at the Ventura College System, at Moorpark. I went to Moorpark a couple weeks back and made a rush order to be sent to Los Angeles Mission College, where my counselor would IGETC certify me. I am not currently enrolled into any courses, anywhere, my last term was Fall 13. So, will it be fine, that the LACC will IGETC certify me? Or would I have to take my Official Transcripts from LACC to Moorpark since Moorpark was my last course.

And one more question, can I send in my Official Transcripts without being IGETC certified and send in my Certification a bit later? Or will my transcripts show that I am not IGETC certified? Viewing my UCLA contract, I read this "“If you are transferring from a California community college or a University of California campus and will complete IGETC or UC Reciprocity, respectively, submit your official certification by September 1, 2014.”

I just do not want this to be an issue that drags on. I am ready to go and order my Official Transcripts once again, but I am wondering if I should wait till I get IGETC certified first.

There is no issue. Once UCLA reads that you are IGETC certified on your LAMC transcript you will be done with your GE’s. Nothing else to it.
