I'm planning to apply to transfer to UCLA. I heard we have to take History and Political Science to complete IGETC. Is it true?

no....you can use history or political science to satisfy IGETC requirements, but you dont have to take them at all.

i heard those two classes also satisfy some requirement for CSU. Maybe thats the logic behind that.

I do believe you've got to take at least American Government.

For area 4 of the IGETC (Social and Behavior Sciences) you will have to complete at least three courses from two of the following disciplines

4A - Anthropology and Archaeology

4B - Economics

4C - Ethnic Studies

4D - Gender Studies

4E - Geography

4F - History

4G - Interdisciplinary, Social & Behavioral Sciences

4H - Political Science, Government & Legal Institutions

4I - Psychology

4J - Sociology & Criminology

So if you've taken two Anthropology courses and one Psychology, then no, you do not have to take History/Pol Sci as the classes you've already taken satisfy this portion of the IGETC. Although you should check if it's required for your major.

ok. thanks, guys
