Im a legal resident of NJ and so are my parents. We've been living in the same town for about 14 years now and Ill be graduating HS in June and going to RU [NB] in the fall of 2012.

My parents, however, might move out of state to somewhere else, by the time i will be starting college. The question is...will my tuition change from in-state cost to out of state cost because my parents will be moving out of state?

Don’t take my word for it but I would say in-state because you are graduating from a NJ school right? I don’t think it matters where your parents are going just as long as you lived in NJ one year prior to your freshmen year. Just my thoughts, not sure at all. :)

Yes I will be graduating from an in-state high school…in NJ lol. Glad to hear what you think, it could be right. Any idea as to where I may get an official response (any RU number to call)? Btw, congrats on your acceptance and full scholarship! [saw it in the RU class of 2016 thread]

i was in the same predicament last year, i can tell you that you will be pay in state tuition for your first year, but after that it will be out of state, since their address will be out of state. One option is to get an apartment and declare yourself as independent from your parents and give your own address, but thats a huge decision to make and most people wont go that way.

oh thank you flying crayons! If i may ask, what did you do then? Are your parents currently paying an out of state tuition or did you declare yourself independent?

lol well my parents decided to stay in new jersey for another couple of years… my sister is a soph in high school, so they’ll wait til she goes to college and move to be close to wherever she’s going to school (since she’s pretty deadset against going to RU :P)
