What do we bring to the interview? What do we wear? If someone can fill me in on everything i need to know about the interview I would greatly appreciate it.

S had an interview w/ Marshall. Brought his resume, an unofficial transcript and some press clipping from his EC (was going to play it by ear on bringing that last one out, came up in the interview so he did). Wore slacks, button-down shirt and a tie. Kid before had a full-on suit, kid after a polo. He said if he had it to do again, he'd wear the same thing.

Don't know what actually went on in the interview, though. I think it's mostly informational (on both parts), they're not going to grill you!

On the Marshall website I believe it was suggested to dress "professionally" for the interview.

We bought my daughter a black pin-stripe pants suit, since she had several interviews besides the Marshall one. She looked terrific!
I think there are some threads from last year about interviews. Also, the Cornell site has a lot of information since the Hotel School interviews are mandatory.

Marshall does say to dress "professionally", which has a different meaning in Southern California than other parts of the country. Here in my neck of the woods it means long pants, real shoes and a shirt other than a T. We were there during one of the way-hot-global-warming days in September. I thought the kid in the suit was going to die of heatstroke.

I wore a cute sweater, trouser dress pants, and ballet flats and it was fine. USC was definitely the most intense of my interviews. Make sure you know exactly why you chose your school/major. The interview was definitely really formal, not like a fun chat at Starbucks. Bringing a resume is a good idea because I didn't and wish I did.. but it was still okay. I think that if you know exactly why you chose USC and why you want to study at a specific school/area you'll be fine. Just be personable and friendly and make yourself sound like a good fit for USC

granted that i interviewed about a year ago but i just wore t-shirt and kakhi pants, brought nothing with me and just talked about why i wanted to go into my major (electrical engineering). just be relaxed

I didn't interview at USC (I live rather far away), but my interviewer was someone I met when I visited, which was a bit awkward, but once she remembered me it was fine. I was surprised a bit by the questions (the last things she asked were GPA and SAT score; those are on the application...) and I was grilled some (I talked about having trouble for the first time in my AP Physics class and she told me all my classes would be that difficult at USC and that I needed to be ready). I think part of it was that she was new at interviewing, but I think I should be okay. I wore dress pants and a nice sweater for a Vitterbi interview.

My interview was a few years back, but it was fairly casual. I had already met my interviewer (who happened to be the admissions counselor for my area) before in a school visit, and he remembered me, which was nice. I brought a resume with my EC's, and was business casual in style. The topics covered during the interview included what I was interested in studying, EC activities I was interested in at the time, what activities I might be interested in at USC, and why I wanted to attend the school. Be sure to ask questions you have about the school, as it shows that you have done some research and are really interested in USC. :)
