I very recently applied (just this week) and I was sort of curious how the whole interview process works for those who’ve applied SCEA? As I understand, we’ll hear from a local alumni sometime—usually about how long will it take to hear from them about setting up an interview? (Although considering there’s only a month and a half before decisions are released, it seems like there’s a fairly short time frame to attempt to interview SCEA applicants, so I’m assuming it’s relatively soon?) And what kind of questions are normally asked?
Every alumni association has a different number of volunteers with a variable number of SCEA applicants, so it’s difficult to give an estimate, other than to say you should receive an email about your alumni interview sometime in November.
With regards to what questions are asked, see: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1823224-harvard-interview-tips-apparently-we-have-to-know-current-events-p1.html
Thanks @gibby!
For anyone who’s stumbling on this and wondering the same thing, I actually heard from my city’s Harvard alumni association just today and they’re asking to have the interview next Saturday.
@RandomRhino What day did you send in your app? And did your city’s alumni association call you or email to set up an interview?
@rabblerowser I sent in my app on October 29, but Harvard received it October 30. I got an email from my city’s alumni association requesting a response about willingness to interview and they’ll get back to me on Wednesday about what time they’d like me to show up on Saturday.
does anybody know if I won’t get an interview until my app is complete?
(It will be complete as soon as H gets my October ACT scores. Multiple choice score comes out on November 10th…)
There’s not enough time for H to wait for every applicant’s folder to be complete-- they send the names to their area coordinators quickly, assuming the rest of the docs get in. Otherwise, they crush the alumni in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of November. Not worth it.
