Question about Kelley petitioning

So I was accepted into Indiana University for Fall 2012, but my SAT/ACT scores weren't high enough for direct admit at Kelley. My GPA is good (about 3.8) but I know that my current SAT scores aren't high enough to be accepted if I petition.

My question is, if I took the March 10 SAT, would the scores be available soon enough (by April 1, 2012)?

On the IUB website, it says,
"Petitions and supporting materials for fall 2012 freshmen are accepted October 1, 2011 - April 1, 2012 only."

Also, if the answer is yes to the above question, I have another question:
If I get a 1270 or higher (along with the needed GPA), will they automatically accept my direct admit, or do I still have to petition?

Thanks!

I took the SAT twice and the first time it took 19 days and the second, 20 days. I think it is usually around 19-20 days. So you’d probably have it before April 1st. You’d have to take it and hope nothing goes wrong with the score/test.

Ok, thanks!
And on the CollegeBoard website it says:
March 10, 2012 (test date) March 29, 2012 (scores available online) April 6, 2012 (paper scores)

I guess I’m more concerned if I need to actually SEND the scores to IU, or do they just need to know what my scores were…?

And for me, it’s not like direct admit is a make-or-break deal for going to IU, so If I still don’t get a good score, it’s not a huge deal if I don’t get direct admit. I just would prefer to be direct admitted for the few benefits that it does have… and not having to worry about applying for Kelley.

I would call the admissions office. I think you will get the direct admit you are looking for.

You also still have a chance to get in through the petition if you do not get the SAT requirement

The only problem is that I am at a 1180, 90 points short… XD
I feel like that is too low, also considering my GPA is just over the required…

But I am taking AP Lit and ACP Calc, so that should help my score. :)

If I don’t get the score I need, I’ll still probably petition, just for the chance that they will accept it…

And another quick question…
Do you think If I petition with a score of 90 under the required SAT, (or 4 under the ACT) there’s a chance that they will accept me?

And If they don’t, can I petition again later, with a new higher score?

Any idea how soon my D will hear back about her petition. She submitted her petition end of Dec, updated transcript early Jan. She still hasn’t heard back from them. Do all petitions get reviewed at the same time?

I’m facing a similar problem, haha. Except, I believe my ACT scores will be ready. I’m 1 short of the ACT requirement and need 2 more on any of the categories on the ACT since IU superscores. If I didn’t get it, i’d be irritated like none other if I had to petition lol.
