one of my most eminent extracarricular activities is web development and design. i’ve independently launched two online businesses, and am co-president of a third one with my brother. one of my websites is pretty successful to say the least–its earning me a net of over 30K/year. i’m not saying this to sound arrogant, but rather, to relay my question about college apps to you.
im unsure of whether or not listing the net income of my site would be appropriate on a college application. if i DO list it, then i fear that it will be looked upon as a sign of arrogance and pompous boasting. on the other hand, im afraid that if i do not somehow indicate its level of success, then adcoms will not look upon my site with the legitimacy it deserves, and overlook the tremendous amounts of time, effort and planning that went into creating my business.
feedback would be greatly appreciated—flames would not.

It would be appropriate to provide any info about your business that shows it's successful and that you put time into it.

People who are involved in clubs and organized ECs are able to list offices and awards , and those are used as measures of their involvement and success. In your case, you need to provide info about how much business you do.

In addition, if you're applying for a business major, this info would be helpful. It also may help when it comes to your getting scholarships based on leadership, character, etc.

thats northstarmom - your post has answered my question.

the irony is that i have no intention of applying as a business major at all. i will definately be a science major, probably physics. the website thing started out as a hobby and kinda evolved into this huge thing that will (hopefully) pay my way through college. at any rate, thanks for your advice.
