I already submitted all of my applications for CS phd. However, only 1 of my recommenders has so far submitted his LoR.

Is the deadline for LOR the same as the application deadline?

Most of the schools I'm applying to have an application deadline of Dec 15. I'm just worried that the other 2 recommenders might miss the deadline.

Well, it's always a good idea to send them a gentle reminder email! :) Recommenders can be pretty busy and/or forgetful. (Not always both. Sometimes just forgetful.)

Most schools will be flexible about receiving late letters -- many programs with mid-December deadlines won't begin reviewing applications until after New Year's, so they don't mind getting letters after the deadline. When in doubt, it's also good to contact the programs to find out their particular absolute deadlines.

hey rold, where all are u applying? im in the same position: cs phd programs, submitted all my apps, but 2 letter writers have submitted. my lil portfolio folder i provided them w/ even had a nice lil intro sheet w/ the deadlines clearly listed... it's a sticky situation to remind them w/o appearing pushy...

I'm applying to
Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, USC, UIUC, UC San Diego, Penn, Penn State, Duke, Columbia and Univ of Florida.

I emailed one of my recommender last week and he replied saying that it should go out "tomorrow". Well, it's been almost a week and he hasn't even started the online recommendation forms.

one program's deadline is today, one tomorrow (01.02.07), and five more over the span of this week.

as far as I know, none of my professors has submitted any recommendation letter :(

i emailed all 3 professor yesterday, and one said he will have them out first thing in the morning. However, I just checked my application, and not one LOR has been submitted yet :(

Well, they're certainly not going to be mad at you or anything.

I'd advise contacting the program to see when their absolute final deadline is. I applied to USCF last year, for example, and the application submission deadline was December 15. One of my recommenders hadn't submitted his letter, and they called me to let me know it needed to be in by January 4 at the latest, or my application wouldn't be considered. That's the kind of information you need to know at this point.
