Question about major choice

If I put Public Relations as my 2nd major choice, do I still have to do the additional Statement of Intent for it? The thing is, I probably wouldn't actually want to major in PR, but rather get a minor in something related to that...so should I put something else for the 2nd major choice?

1) You need to do all the requirements for each major you apply to–so yes, you need to include the Statement of Intent for PR

2) If you don’t really want to major in PR, why list it? PR is a major in the Annenberg School, so your app will be reviewed by their adcom too.

What is your first choice major? Generally, admissions to the various Colleges (Cinema, Thornton, Annenberg, Marshall, Viterbi) can be more selective than for the many majors in Dornsife, which include the undeclared majors.

Hope that helps.

Yeah, thanks, that helps a lot
My first choice major is Business Administration in Marshall, and I decided to list my 2nd choice as Sociology. But these choices aren’t binding, are they? Like, if I were to be admitted (hopefully), I could still, say, get a minor in Advertising, for example?

The majors you list on your application are not binding. Dornsife is less competitive than Marshall so putting that as a second choice may help move your application along in a positive way. Students can transfer to other schools and majors once they matriculate at USC but completion of all of the requirements may take longer than if one had enrolled directly into the program.
