Question About Majors

Hello all!

I’ve been accepted to Tulane EA 2023. I’m super pumped since Tulane was a huge reach for me, and I’ve heard so much positivity about the school and city itself.

While this isn’t a decision I’ll have to make until April, something that’s important to me is the ability to major in whatever I want. I’ve researched Tulane’s programs thoroughly (I think), and so far my majors of interest include the following:

Anthropology
Communication
Management
Marketing
Political Economy
Political Science
Psychology
Public Health
Social Policy and Practice (most likely paired with sociology or political science)

Obviously, these majors cover a lot of breadth. My main question asks if there are majors that are impacted, or have a reputation for having overly difficult “weed out” reqs/prereqs. Can I declare a major by the end of my fourth semester (which is the latest I can, as far as I can tell from online info) and still graduate within four years?

This is pretty rambling, but I think I got the gist of my questions across. Any answers are appreciated! Thanks!

Current junior at Tulane. First off, congrats on getting accepted. I’m an Intl Relations (part of the Political Sci Program) and Political Economy major so I can answer any questions about those programs.

I wouldn’t say either of those majors have any real weed out courses. Feel free to ask me any more detailed questions you may have.

Does Tulane make admissions decisions based on the major you applied for?

@blazinamazin2023 From what I’ve heard, they do not.

@hydechris Can you give any insights into jobs and internships for Political Economy major? Seems like a great major for law school. Wondering about alternative career paths.

Thanks

Sounds like you might like the new Liberal Arts Management Minor https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/newsletter/liberal-arts-alumni-establish-slamm-endowment?utm_source=Tulane+Today&utm_campaign=789131f3ba-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_01_02_09_25&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_5d09d9474c-789131f3ba-120965353
