wasn't sure what board to ask this in though...i'm looking to having an english major with a pre-law concentration. of course you never know what will happen and there's always a chance that the law school plan, my dream, will fall through. so what careers can you have with an english major? thanks so much.

well, i think that any career that required you to quickly analyze large bodies of text and then summarize them neatly would be an option for english majors. Actually both my parents are english majors, and one teaches AP English, and the other English 101 at a college. If I were you I would double major in something else and english.
According to wikipedia, the following are good for english majors:
Journalism
Creative Writing or Non-fiction writing
editing
publishing
teaching
and to a lesser degree:
advertising
public relations
acting
LAW
business
marketing
directing
