Question about management consulting salaries in the public/social sectors...

Now, I know that these are going to be some of the lesser paid fields in management consulting...because governments are going to be the clients...but its the area of the business world that I am most interested in going into.

So, the question - How much can a 'senior partner' make in a large management consulting firm in these fields. I'm guessing that it's not going to be in the millions, but I'm hoping that it would be at least somewhat competitive.

1) Public Sector - Organization, Operations, Information Technology, Defense and Security, Public Finance, Economic Development, and Health: (McKinsey & Company - Public Sector - Service Offerings)

2) Social Sector - Global Public Health, Economic Development, Philanthropy, Education, and Climate Change: (Our Practices | Social Sector Office)

Thank you very much in advance for any help!

Sincerely,

bump…

At major firms, the exact same. Partners bring in new and returning customers, which is why they are compensated so much.

Really!?

So a partner at a major consulting firm specializing in educational administration earns as much as a partner in the same firm specializing in corporate finance!?

Seems to good to be true…

bump…again

At major firms, if that field is included, then yes.

wow - that’s insane. what about the less senior consultants. are their (in the public/social sector) salaries comprable with those in more traditionally lucrative fields (finance, etc.)?

also…i’ve heard that those working in the public/social sector as management consultants have less gruelling work schedules than those in working in the private sector. any truth to that?

bump…

bump…

bump…

you should bump a few more times. i think i can…i think i can…

good idea…bump.
