I know that UCSD goes by the point system, but how many points does UCSD assign to marked improvement?
My grades are:
Freshman - 2.2/2.4
Sophomore - 3.16/3.83
Junior - 4.0 - 3.8 <---this 3.8 may be changed to a 4.0 IF my teacher changes my calc grade last year
Overall my UC GPA is a 3.69 or 3.72 depending on my grade change
I know this is a little low, but my SAT 1 is a 2140 and my subjects (taking next week) should be around the high 700s.

I also have no ECs, except for the 128 hours I spent working as a research intern at the infectious disease department of the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

Would my essay even matter? (would it be given any points for being good?)

The improvement will help, but without signficant ECs or leadership positions, it's going to be difficult. (unless you have special circumstances...)

Yeah, I know. I've been following the point rubric given and I'm short some points, so that's why I was wondering** how many points were awarded for marked improvement.**

oh ok that's all I wanted to know thanks.
@BlueSkyPinkCloud - What's so amusing about this? I honestly thought there were points given to marked improvement. No need to be a DBag.

a word to the wise - yes, we can get a little snarky around here, but generally it isn't a good idea to resort to name-calling. there are only a handful of people who check this CC forum regularly, and BlueSkyPinkCloud is getting pretty good at it, so really ... accept our comments with good humor. we aren't here to laugh at the prefrosh (plenty of time for that during orientation week), after all.

but i said hah. because you were practically yelling at people who were trying to help answer your question. Youre going to find out real fast that isnt the way to go about things in life, especially if you want people to take their time to help you out.

im sorry if you thought i was laughing at you, its especially great that you do have that improvement...just try not to be so defensive, and rude, when youre requesting peoples help. and i dont appreciate being called a dbag.

^I think you are misunderstanding - I was definitely not trying to give off the feeling that I was demanding an answer. I think you got that feeling from my use of the bold tag, but I only used that to clarify my question, which was whether or not UCSD gave points for marked improvement. Excessive use of exclamation marks would probably be a better indicator of a person yelling on an online forum.

I'm sorry if you misunderstood me and I apologize for the name calling, which was probably a slight overreaction.
