Do you apply for Marshall in your application or do you apply once you've gotten into USC?

On your application. It’s a 4 year program.

Actually you can do either. So if you think/know you want to study business/accounting, you can apply straight out of high school. However, you can also switch into Marshall once you’re into USC if you aren’t accepted into Marshall right away or if you decide later on that you want to study business.

If you know you want to do business/accounting, I definitely suggest applying straight out of high school.

It’s much more difficult to transfer in to Marshall once you’re in another USC college. You have to receive certain grades in certain prerequisites, and admission is not guaranteed. It would be a shame for you to come to USC knowing that you want to study business only to find out that you won’t be able to.

I second twinkie’s post. just apply into marshall even if you’re not 100% positive you want business because it’s hard to apply into it at school. I know too many people that try when they’re finally at USC, but get rejected.

Later when you decide business isn’t for you, it’s really easy to go to the college of arts and sciences. Not vice-versa.

If I remember correctly from asking around CC back then, USC evaluates your application twice. It’s evaluated by your school of choice (e.g. Marshall) and the university in general. If your application isn’t accepted by marshall it still goes to the general review to see if they’ll admit you as a student in USC, but not as a marshall student. Hope it helps.
