Don't worry about that 790. As for the second question, it just depends on your strengths. Just because a higher % of people get 800s doesn't mean you will, as that means if you're not as strong in that subject, a few missed questions can really screw up your score.

I also got a 790 on math IIC this last testing date. As for Lit, I was getting in the low 700's on practice tests and ended up with a 650 on the real thing. My advice: if you did well on SAT I CR, take Lit. It isn't too bad but the October test's passages were horrible..one was about a metaphor with wheat and wind...ya.

Percentages of 800's:
Chem:4%
Lit: < 1%
US History:1%
Physics:7%
Math II: 12%

I don't know what I should do, cause there is a disparity among my SAT II scores. I have a 770 in American but a 650 in lit. Is that really gonna hurt my chances at competitive liberal arts colleges...like Bates, Colby, or Connecticut College? Any suggestions because I can't take the SAT IIs again.

Thanks.

(I know Bates is SAT optional but I was wondering if my scores might help?)

lol i just got a 790 on math 2. but im not even considering retaking it. cause a 790 is um. really good. so i would also advise you not to retake it because it will have absolutely zero bearing on your being admitted into any college.

my friend got an 800 on literature, but she also got a 5 on the ap lit exam and an 800 on CR and is really good. I think an 800 is for people who are exceptional at it. I got a 740, 4 on ap exam, 790 on CR..you can see the comparisons. Good, but not grrrreat.

I had done a lot of preparation for the APUSH exam so I already had that. But because the SAT II and AP test are so different, I bought the SAT II American History Sparknotes book (it was just five tests with explanations to the answers). I thought it was very helpful and the questions were very similar to the actual test. You just gotta know lots of little facts...but almost everything you need to know was in that Sparknotes book.

i didn't use any sat2 us history books. i took it the very day after the ap exam, which i had been studying for a bit with the ap REA book, so i flipped through it a little more after my ap exam.
