Question about math/statistics

I'm currently a junior in HS, and I'm very interested in studying mathematics/statistics in college. I'm leaning towards applied math rather than pure/theoretical.

Does anyone know anything about the differences between majoring in math in arts & sciences and statistics which i believe is only limited to stern? exactly how oriented is the statistics major towards business applications?

the reason i ask is i'm still not sure if i'd like to go into the business applications of math, and obviously a math major in arts & sciences would give me a wider range of options...but how practical/theoretical is the math major?

Thanks for the help in advance!

seriously, look at the majors, the requirements, etc.

I have…

i was just hoping that somebody at CC who has real-life experience might be able to offer their advice/opinion, which can be just as (if not more) valuable as reading about something on a website.

edit: plus, it’s not like I have any idea what a lot of those courses are actually about lol

That’s what course descriptions are for.

ok…

but course descriptions cant really help with finding out about people’s opinions and experiences?

sorry that i’m not being too helpful to your standards =(

but, for the most part we are all high schoolers here with hopes of going to NYU.

there are very few kids on this forum that actually go to NYU.

sorry
