Since Stanford doesn't reveal your roommate until you arrive on campus and move in, what do you do if your roommate isn't there yet? Because usually people decide which beds, closets, etc. they want with their roommate, but if mine arrives a few hours later than me, do I just have to sit there for hours and not unpack anything? Like, would it be rude to choose a side of the room before she gets there?

Our d’s roommate was there first and chose her side of the room first. Since they were mirror images, it didn’t matter. D didn’t care.

Oh ok! Thank you! I’m just worried my roommate is going to have some sort of thing about sleeping on the left side of the room or something weird like that and take it out on my the whole year.

I highly doubt your roommate’s going to hold a grudge against you for choosing a side of the room earlier than her, lol. If so, then your roommate has her own issues to work out.

Usually most students arrive pretty early, as close to 8am as possible, so chances are you’ll probably arrive around the same time. In most of the dorms, each side of the dorm room is a mirror image in terms of furniture and amenities, so it’s not a big deal.

I usually thought it was first come first serve when choosing beds? I don’t know, though, still a freshie in high school. Congratulations on getting accepted into Stanford! :)
