Question about moving in....

When we move in do we just unload all our boxes/stuff outside the dorms then park (or have someone) park out car in the long term parking? Do we get some big basket to put all our stuff in or do we just carry it up one/two things at a time? gracias....

I'm assuming its the same as last years move in. They will direct you to the parking lot where you will unload stuff to a basket. Then they will transport you and your belongings to the dorm. I wish it was that organized on move-out day.

You print out some sort of pass or confirmation of your moving-in period. It acts as a sort of parking pass when you go to your appropriately designated lot. You run to the front desk, give them your ID card, and you receive a cart.

What kind of full service did you get? Everyone else had to do there own stuff.

Anyhow, it'd probably be a good idea to bring a hand-truck if you have heavier items. The laundry carts are a bit deep and unhelpful when it comes to heavy objects.

I think that poster was talking about how they would drive you and your belongings on the carts to your building (this depends on what dorm you live at and how far away it is from the parking lot- for example for those living in De Neve where the parking lot is right next to the building, you have to walk yourself and don't get to be driven to your building)

All I'm planning on bringing is two suitcases w/ clothes and a box with tv and other stuff in it. Will I be able to pull this off myself or am I gonna need help?

The cart they give you is an OK size...maybe 3' L x 2.5' W x 4' high? If you look on the moving into on-campus housing page...

there's a pic so you can get an idea of the cart size and see if you can fit your stuff in it and can make it in one trip.

what if i live in rieber? would i be able to use the parking lot right by there? but i'm assigned to lot 7, level 2! that's by the pauley pavilion, according to the map (link): <a href="http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/portal/maps/parkingmap/0206UCLAParkingMap.htm#%5B/url%5D">http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/portal/maps/parkingmap/0206UCLAParkingMap.htm#</a></p>

seems like i may have some problems?

wut does lot SV mean?

Super-Villain.

sunset village?

do i hear sunset village?

when u saw SV, what context was it in? i'm sure that it's referring to sunset village if it's info about the campus.

it says LOT SV Level 1 or 2

mme-lin's answer is probably correct, though I can't verify for sure.

LOT SV level 1 or 2? Lord Of The Super Villian. Don't worry level 4+ are the ones you should worry about, the rest of them are weaklings.

Hmm, those UCLA carts are pretty nice actually. Bigger than I thought they would be.

So are there people moving in at pretty much all times of the day (or are there only people moving in at times on the list of "pick an alternative time")? Like if I signed up to move in at 6-8pm, would it be possible for me to move in at like 2 or 3pm?

You'll be fine- its not like they'll reject you and tell you to come back after you drove all the way there with all your stuff

i'll be arriving in air force one

jyancy, I guess you're talking about Rieber buildings? I thought standard procedure was dropping off all your stuff at the turnaround and then park afterwards, thus no rides provided.
