On the website it says that we can move into our residential hall on August 24. Do we have to come on this day, or can we come anytime between then and the day classes start, September 2?

The way I read it, you could come in anytime between, but why would you want to miss Welcome Week? :) (Haha, I know alot of people are intl's and stuff, but it's bound to be fun ;) )

yea plus, you get to know each other

I just wanna beam myself and all my stuff in...imagine 800 kids, parents and suitcases wrapped around for 6 city blocks to get into a dorm at the same time? They should alternate move in times or something

You can choose a two-hour window to show up and move in. I'm not sure how much they enforce your time slot. I showed up when I was supposed to. The move went very smoothly I thought. NYU Police, NYC police and dorm staffers did a great job. We waited in line a little but overall, traffic control and moving in went very smoothly. Kudos to all.

we had a 9 am slot. we were done by 10:30 am. there was a mass of people (rubin) but the police and everyone else did a great job of keeping the traffic flowing. You had to unload all your stuff on the sidewalk and wait in a line (someone had to go park the car). I was a little surprised at how smooth it went considering the mass of people. New Yorkers know how to keep things moving!

It's going to be really hard to bring all my luggage by train so I guess I'll have to drive. Anyway I haven't decided on a dorm yet.
can someone please fill me in on the different dorms? I know their names - Rubin, Brittany, Goddard, but not much about them.

sueinphilly:

I was in Rubin also. Given the traffc in NYC and the 800 kids moving into Rubin, I thought they did an amazing job as well. I took too much stuff though. Mom & Dad weren't happy when we found out you could only use the elevator and laundry cart once. We had to hump the rest of the stuff up 12 floors.
