Question about my friend.

My friend has like a 2.98 GPA and has a total of 950 SAT, in all 3 sections combined. Even though his GPA is 2.98 he still is ranked like 60/423.

His parents want him to go to a four year university but with his SAT score, it seems out of reach.

My question is that what are pretty well known universities that are SAT optional, or what should we set as a goal for his next SAT sitting.

Thanks a lot.

Suggest that he get some documentation showing that standarized test scores consistently underestimate his academic achievement/proficiency/potential. In other words, he’s a bad standardized test taker. With that score/GPA combination, it sounds like a very distinct possibility.

My sister was in that situation (though with a 4.0 GPA, 18 ACT), and she was still able to land a scholarship based on her documented problems with standardized tests.
