Question About My Grades/ECs/App and QuestBridge

I am someone who never really got too involved with clubs at my school. I do well in school, am in the IB program, 4.7 GPA weighted, 4s on AP English/USH, 5 on IB Enviro SL, 6 on IB Math SL.
I am starting to worry that I have not done enough in my three years of school so far. I have 2 years of Chess Club, 1 year of Save What's Left, 1 year of Recycling Club, I am in NHS, and have played school soccer 3 years (2 JV, 1 Varsity, am expecting to make the team again this year). I also have played competitive soccer for the last 3 years outside of school (this has my one leadership role, captain for 2 years). Also worked from freshman year to the middle of sophomore, haven't found a job since. Never done anything with SGA, class presidency, etc.
Do I need to do more for ECs? I'm thinking with my grades I can get into a really good school, but I need to do more to stand out, as I'm sure many others have my kinds of grades. I am a Swiss citizen, permanent US resident, Swiss first language, no religion, would be a first gen college student, and my parents don't make very much, I don't know if that helps my resume, but from other posts I have seen on CC, it seems like it has some significance.
I am applying to UF (I think I more or less have this for sure - thoughts?) and one other public Florida school as my counselor strongly suggests applying to two in state colleges. Then I am gonna apply to 2-5 out of state ones, and am gonna apply to ETH Zurich. I don't know what I want to major in yet, am gonna minor in business/finance though.

Also, a question about the QuestBridge program. I have been reading about it from some searches here, and is this something where, if accepted, I have no choice but to go to school to where it matches me? And I can still apply to other colleges while my app is submitted there, right?

Sorry if those are stupid questions but I'm not very familiar with the whole applying thing, and can't really ask my parents for help as they did not go to college in the States. Thanks in advance.

Your EC’s seem weak to be honest, but you have a strong GPA. What is you SAT or ACT score?

Also, if your parents went to college in another country, you are not first generation.

For QuestBridge, you must be eligible (maybe invited idk) by having a low income. Once you apply there and if you get accepted, you then apply to the schools they are in partnership with (around 29 schools). You cannot apply to any other schools outside of QuestBridge until the decision arrives. Once it does and you get in, then it is binding (with an exception of few schools: MIT, Yale, and couple others). If you don’t get in, you may apply wherever you like.

Have you been contacted by QuestBridge that you can apply to them?

My SAT is a 1380/2140 (680 CR, 700 M, 760 W). I think I will join two or three more clubs if I can this year, and possibly join cross country.

Yeah, I was invited to QuestBridge, my mom started but did not finish college. I also think their income is in the correct category.

So basically, if I apply for the QuestBridge scholarship, I can’t apply to anywhere else until I get that decision? About when does that decision happen, and will I still have time to apply elsewhere? Or can I apply somewhere first, then fill out the QB app?

Thanks for your reply.

There is a separate QB subforum under FA & Scholarships where you can search for/ask your question.

Thanks, I posted there instead.

So I guess this is just about the ECs now. Do I need more?

No, you don’t need to start on multiple EC’s now because it is not about quantity.

Stick with EC’s you are really passionate about and build on to that (leadership, achievement, etc). Just make the most out of what you got. If you really are interested in trying something new, then go for it.

QuestBridge decision is Oct 22 and the decision for the colleges through QB is Dec 15.
If you are rejected from QB, you have about a week to apply to colleges so have your apps ready just in case. And I don’t think you can apply somewhere then apply through QuestBridge.
