Question about my SAT schedule

I'm a junior and I'd like some opinions on my plan. My plan was to take the SAT for the first time in May, with a few SAT study books as a preparation. If I do poorly on the SAT, I plan on retaking it in October with the help of SAT prep classes this time. Between May and October, I'll take my 2 subject tests.

Now one of my concern is when will I need to send in my SAT scores to colleges my senior year? Because if I retake the SAT in October, I'd need time for it to be graded before I turn it in.
Another concern is the ACT. I'm not too familiar with sending in scores to colleges. Can I send in both my highest ACT and SAT score? Should I squeeze in the ACT test between May and October with my subject tests?

By the way, I'm trying to get into a so-Cal university. I have my goal set on UCSD or UCI.
Thanks for your replies!

As primary advice, I would strongly suggest you to think about taking it for the first time even early. Try taking it this March or April. You’ll need to take SAT II’s probably around the May time. Also, I personally think October it a bit too close to the call, but it is certainly alright though. A lot of people tend to take it on the Oct. before college apps.
