Question about NEU Fall 2021 Transfer Application questions

Please explain your reasons for transferring and the goals you hope to achieve. (600 word max)

What types of experiences inside and outside of the classroom do you want to engage in during your Northeastern journey? (250 word max)

Are these the only questions I should answer in my fall 2021 application for NEU? I’m worried I’m missing something. Feels kind of short.

Yes and make sure you meet the entrance requirements for whichever school you’re apply to within NEU.

Where would I look those up? I’m applying to the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, with a combined major in Economics and Business Administration.

You need to fulfill requirements in both schools I believe. You can check with admissions to confirm.

For those applying into one of our 130+ combined majors, please review the course information for each individual college or program involved in the combined major. (For example, if you choose to apply to the combined major of Biology and English, please review the transfer requirements for both the College of Science and the College of Social Sciences and Humanities).

Oh I’ve read that before. That just means that I have to be aware of certain courses I would have to take in both majors right? Not that I am only allowed to apply if I’ve taken a certain set of classes at my current university? E.g. I’ve taken tons of Econ courses at my current uni, so I think I’m pretty close to an Econ major, and I should have enough credits for the basic Business classes, and then also enough for 1 concentration.

You would need to have taken those courses in your current school before transferring. Probably not an issue if you’re transferring as a junior. You sound like you’ve taken quite a few courses already.

You’d need for example calculus, a compliant writing class, foreign language for a BA, microeconomics and business stats.

Courses listed as required must be completed or in-progress to be considered for the specific college/program.

So my requirements would be:
Calculus at the college level (strongly recommended)
Macroeconomics (BSBA only, strongly recommended)
Language (Intermediate level strongly recommended for BSIB)
College Writing (equivalent to ENGW 1111)
Business Statistics
Microeconomics

College Writing (equivalent to ENGW 1111)
Mathematical Thinking or Calculus
Foreign Language (BA students only)

ive taken everything here except for business stats, and i have only taken 2 total foreign language courses (elementary chinese I and II).
I’ve taken intro stats but it was under the econ department, and when i checked NEU’s course equivalency database, it seems the course i took is equivalent to another econ class in NEU. So i guess i havent taken business statistics (tbh i dont think the class is offered in my uni cos its not rly a business school). is this a problem?

I’d call or write to the admissions department and ask. Because you’ve taken a statistics class already they may allow you to simply take business stats your first semester at NEU or you could take it over the summer, or they may waive the requirement altogether. The issue may be that it’s a pre-requisite for many upper level business classes so they want it done before you start there.

Looks like you meet the language requirement in the School of social sciences and the business school only recommends it for international business.

But it would be disappointing to apply and get denied simply because you didn’t have the required courses.

thank you for the info. i didnt realize the “requirements” meant they had to be done at my current school - i thought it’d mean i would have to do it over there if i get in.

You’re welcome! Good luck with everything!
