hi, I am going to be applying for transfer after my fall semester this year. At that point, I will have 25 college credits from actual college courses I took after high school graduation.
Some colleges say that you need at least 30 credits from college courses to count as a transfer applicant. However at the time I will be applying for transfer, I will only have 25. After the spring semester, I will have 40.
Are the colleges going to take into account my spring courses so that I will be counted as a transfer applicant? Or are they referring to credits at the time of application?
im fairly certain that they’ll take into account the fact that you are taking more credits.
Most of the time if you’re still in school and you are going to take relevant/ ‘major’ requirement courses you can list them on your application and your school will request a summer grade request once they start reviewing your application.
if you want to be 100% sure you should just contact the admissions office
It depends entirely on the schools. You have to look at their transfer application requirements. Some will say “We require x units at the time of application” and some will stay “student should have completed x units by the time they enroll here”
If you have any credits from AP classes that your TARGET school accepts for credit…those will count, too.
You can have 20 credits at a community college from AP classes…but your state college might only recognize them for 8 credits…or none at all. Make sure to check your target school’s AP credit guide.
