Question about NYU Majors!!

Hi all... I plan to major in Finance and Economics but I heard that, because Stern is so competitive, that I should apply to College of Arts and Science. The admin. officer told me that because some of the schools of NYU are so competitive, they choose "Undecided" as their major.

Today as I am applying common app... I see "Anticipated school/college at NYU" and then "Anticipated Major" and I have no clue what I should do...

As a future business major and someone who will transfer to Stern (if I even get into CAS someday that is...) should I do... CAS -> Undecided? OR CAS-> Economics?

Please get back to me and I apologize if this has been asked 100x times, thanks

I talked to an NYU admissions rep about this, and he said that once you are in CAS, it is basically impossible to transfer to Stern.

So I think that if you are planning to get an MBA, apply to CAS, but if you aren't, apply to stern

wow are you serious?? there goes my stern aspirations..

If you are dead set on stern, apply and see what happens. I dont know what your stats look like, but you might be pleasantly surprised.

You can also apply to CAS and Major in Econ (or anything else you want to major in) and minor in Business Studies.
NYU College of Arts & Science Preprofessional Center

Also, I might have been a bit "Harsh" in my description regarding transferring. The rep said that is was very difficult, but that is does happen, just not that often.

When I took a tour at NYU they were very clear pointing out that they do not really like going between the schools. The only way (or so they told us) to double major is to major in something at your specialized school (Stern, Steinhardt, Tisch, etc) and another major in CAS. So I imagine that attempting to transfer would be somewhat of a nightmare.
