Question about off-campus housing

I'd recommend against it. You'll just get told that they can't guarantee housing for transfers, but if something opens up you'll be notified. The wait lists are not kept by the college O-Week coordinators, but rather by the Dean of Undergraduate's office. Are you from out-of-state? If so, you get higher priority for housing than Texas transfers.

Thanks NYSkins1. Yes, I'm out of state, but I'll just hope for the best and explore other options.

Higher priority for housing than Texas transfers? I'm transferring from a school in TX and I'm 1st on the waitlist for Hanszen.. (I requested to be put on the waitlist as soon as I got my college assignment.

btw NYSkins1, I added you on FB the other day:P

I paid my housing deposit the day I was admitted to Rice back in April. Should I also have requested a wait list spot once my college assignment was made?

janekoh89--how did you learn that you were 1st on your college's waitlist?

Yeah, I have the same questions as Red Herring. I've heard of a few transfers that have gotten housing, but time is getting short, and I need to find an apartment/roommate quick.

From what I know, there are still a few rooms in flux, at least at Martel.

RedHerring, Myrmidon73- I emailed my college coordinator and requested to be waitlisted, and she said that I'll have first priority to female beds that become available.

btw Myrmidon, I sent you a msg on FB.

Dorian_Mode: do you know if transfers at Martel got housing on campus this year?

As I said, it's in flux. Some may.

Someone from Martel was offered housing on campus today.
