Question about OOS tuition

I am going to school out of state. So I will have to pay tuition of 14,000$ and my question is how long will I pay this? All four years or only the first year?

Usually all four years, but each school has its own official rules about that and the way they enforce it. THose schools that get a lot of OOSers tend to base residency on where the student’s parents are living.

The number of public colleges and universities that allow out-of-state students eventually to become in-state students for purposes of tuition is getting smaller and smaller. As cptofthehouse says, it depends on the specific policies of the institution you’re attending, but, also as cptofthehouse says, you’re probably going to have to pay non-resident tuition as long as you’re a student there.

what is the name of the school you will be attending? There may be someone here familiar with its policies.

^Or google the name of the college and ‘residency requirements’ since you will eventually need to read the policy from the primary source anyway.

Also, that $14K will just be the first year. Based on historical info it will probably go UP each year.
