The orientation website says that students should look at the course selections to get an idea of a schedule prior to orientation. However, many classes that I will need are already filled. Does anyone happen to know if there are seats reserved for students attending orientation?

Just in case anyone is curious: I called today and they said some classes have reserved spots. They said in the classes that have seats reserved there are 10 saved per session.

Also just to clarify, if spots are reserved, it should be reflected on the website. It won’t be anything extra from what’s posted there, but like, if there’s 70 seats left in PSYC111, it’s likely because they’re reserved.

@billberryish My advice to you is to knock out all your Gen Eds first. Those will probably be the only classes that you will be available to register for. They do reserve spots for gen ed courses as you have mentioned before and slowly unreserved them as the orientation sessions progress. Another piece of advice is to have the earliest orientation possible because you would then have the highest chance of getting the classes you want.

Thank you guys for your response! I should have mentioned that I’m a transfer student, and my gen eds are all covered. The way things look, I wouldn’t be able to take classes related to my intended major so far. I was toying with taking a second major anyway. I’ll have to stay an extra semester, or take a summer/winter session, but that’s alright.

@rebeccar Thank you for this! That is what I was trying to figure out.
