Question about Orientation and Convocation

I’m an incoming student, and I’m a little confused about the order of all of the events. According to the released information, everyone has to be on campus by August 30th for Orientation. But it seems like the traditional walk through the gates/formal introduction (Convocation?) doesn’t happen until a few days after that orientation. Is this correct? And if so, do parents usually stay the few days so that they can attend convocation, or leave?

Thanks

Read all the materials for parents, from what I remember, they ask the Parents to remove themselves after official move in. Same day–get out.

Parents don’t generally stay for convocation. It’s really just the first day of classes - freshman have a bit extra in that they walk through the gate and listen to a speech.
