My gf wants to go together with me to my orientation since she will apply to UCLA next year. Is it possible for her to do that? Will they check anything like ID?

Yes, you'll need your ID and you have to check-in. You'll also be in groups at Orientation and they have a roll-call and stuff.

is the orientation fun? i mean, is it in an informative setting where the counselor talks to you about the school, resources, classes...etc, or do we get any group activities/free time or something like that?

It's pretty boring especially the first day where they force you to go to various lectures whatever on what it means to be a bruin and welcoming speeches etc. On the second day you just attend workshops and do whatever the Hell you want. The third day was really tiring for me since it was hot and the tour was long... I ended up skipping out on it and leaving for home early. I didn't do the scavenger hunt thing (on the first night?) and people seemed to enjoy that a lot. There are some entertaining stuff that the o-tion staff puts on...

carpe noctem was amusing. i don't remember any of the people i was with, but what better way to orient yourself to ucla than to run around with a map and a polaroid camera at 1am?

last year, 103 was... over 103. as in, 110 degrees ish. SO HOT! dang heatwave. as long as that doesn't happen to you, you should enjoy orientation. we had brownout threats to contend with. and really hot sunburny campus tours. aish. so... yah. you're free to wander around westwood, go shopping for ucla gear, attend workshops, whatever. the first day is the worst, as emmeline says, but it gets better because you get more freedom after that. and if you do hate it, it's only 3 days. so... yah.
