Hey guys, I have a question about what to fill in for my parent's colleges. Both of my parents' were educated, my mother stopped her education after graduating college and my father went to medical shool and became a doctor. The only problem is that both of them were educated oversees, in Pakistan and India. I will be the first person to go to college in my family in America. So I was wondering, number one, what I would, if any, put into the spaces asking about my parents' education, and also if I would be considered to be the first person from my family going to college.

nope, both of your parents have a college degree so you have to check off college degree for your mom and College+beyond (or w/e its called) for your dad, it doesn't matter where they got their college degrees from they still got one. so you're not a first generation college student.

Alright. Thanks a lot.

What were you thinking, you'd put down no education for them and then dr. and mrs. Alien in the name slot????

What were you thinking, you'd put down no education for them and then dr. and mrs. Alien in the name slot???? And once and for all, first generation is meant to give a tip to poor URM kids from bad high schools.

My intentions weren't to try to manipulate the system or anything, I seriously had no idea what to put into that slot. I know a lot of people talked about being a first-generation immigrant being useful, and since I am one(I was born oversees in Pakistan before moving here) I was wondering if it would be helpful in including.
