<p>Okay, so I'm thinking about opening a debit card with my bank (HSBC) and linking my paypal account to it. the question I have is, should I apply for the paypal debit card and use that, or use the debit card offered by the bank? I hope that made sense. My debit card will be more than just the paypal account, which is why I'm asking. Basically, does a Paypal debit card offer any advantages over the bank's debit card?</p>
<p>Don’t link your Bank Account to Paypal. Always use a Credit Card with Paypal. The protections are much better with a credit card vs. debit card or bank account.</p>
<p>Paypal is notorious for not being a nice firm to deal with.</p>

As for the debit card, I really don’t see what difference it makes. The one my bank gave me has a VISA logo on it so I can use it just as I use a credit card. I don’t know if this is the case with the Paypal one (it most likely is, but I am not sure).</p>
<p>I’ve also had my bank account linked to PayPal for years. I’ve yet to have a problem with them and even if I did have a problem with PayPal, I’d just file a dispute with my bank.</p>
<p>Also I have dealt with PayPal in regards to people not paying, and they’ve always solved the problem and I’ve always received my money; whether they force the buyer to give it to me or PayPal reimburses me.</p>
<p>To the OP: why do you need a PayPal debit card? Just use your bank’s card. There really aren’t any more advantages over having one over the other.</p>
<p>@OperaDad: thank you. Basically, my debit account will be 90% paypal and I don’t plan on more than 50 to 75 dollars in their at a time, so I’m not risking much.</p>

<p>Are you sure you are talking about the same company? Paypal cannot, nor will they, force anyone to pay you. Ebay has incentive to encourage payment, but Paypal is not involved, other than to process payments. They have no idea what you may or may not be entitled to.</p>
