Question about penalties for getting a question wrong.

I just took a practice test and got 2 wrong; now this comes to a -2.5. So does that round to a -3 or a -2? I know that at -2.75, it goes to -3, but are they forgiving when it's at half credit? It's the difference between a 760 and a 740 Math for the practice test. I also realized how if I had gotten one more wrong, it would have dropped me down to a 720! Scary how one question can drop you from a 760 to a 720!

Isn't it only -.25 for a wrong answer? Which would total -.5, which would be subtracted from your score, let's say a raw score of 49. So
49 - .5= 48.5 And thats rounded up, so your raw score would be a 49. Assuming that you took a CB practice test. Sad that I have the directions for grading memorized. :)

the extra -2 in his math came from the two points he didnt not recieve for correct answers. On top of that was the 2 x -.25 = -.5 penalty for "guessing"

So does a 52.5 round to a 53 or a 52? I guess that's the easier question since rounding a -2.5 doesn't seem right.

Subtract (.25 multiplied by the number u got wrong) from the number you got right and round accordingly.

52.5 rounds up to a 53.

Yeah it is scary, I missed only 3 Math questions total on my actual SAT test in March 2007 and got a 720 :(
