qUESTION ABOUT PERSONAL STATEMENT NEEEEEED HELP!

unfortunately, brown does not accept the commonapp and the essay topics are different.

on the commonapp, I wrote about a person who had a significant influence on me, and really described that influence

on the brown app, the question is
" In reading your application, we want to get to know you as well as we can. We ask that you use this opportunity to tell us something more about yourself that would help us toward a sense of who you are, how you think, and what issues and ideas interest you most. "

If I were to submit my common app essay, would that be acceptable (i wrote about my grandfather, who was a doctor who charged nothing in a poor village, and how this affected my beliefs)?

Yes. The essay is meant to be open-ended, meaning that you can write about whatever you want.

Yup. I used my common app essay for Brown (and Georgetown, which doesn't take the common app either).

nice, are you guys positive ?; what did you guys write about?

You could try calling Brown and asking them if it's an open ended question, just to be sure. It seems like one to me and I'm going to use an essay I wrote for another school.

Just make sure that the way that person influenced you tells them something about you and oyu'll be fine.

ya i am doing the same thing for the brown app

I wouldn't call Brown. The question is obviously open to whatever you want to write about, so it doesn't seem like anything worth calling over. You can write pretty much whatever you want and submit pretty much any essay you've written for another school.

so if i talk about what kind of person i am, it's okay?

for example im thinking about using pomona's essay for brown

the topic was "tell us something about you knew for sure but have come to change your opinion"

i wrote about how i thought i was like the tortoise from the aesop's fable but now i think im more like the 2 red eared sliders i raise.

do you think this fits brown's essay?

Obviously it fits with "tell us something more about yourself" because it tells them something more about you. :)

yeah i used my common app essay, too
