I was wondering if the pg 217 essay is supposed to have a thesis to it or if it can just be a story from your life?

It must be a thesis, with an abstract and appropriate references. To get into Penn, you must pass on both the written portion as well as an oral examination in which you defend your work. Only then can you get your PhD.

ummm?

Seriously...I need to know if I can just talk about my trip to the Galapagos or do I need to turn it into some statement about life (which wouldn't be found in an autobiography)

I included an event from my life. I think that if you include something such a trip, give some idea as to what influence it played in your life. I did my pg 217 on a decision I made about a year ago relating to individuality.

I don't think there necessarily should be a thesis, but there should be a point. Don't just write about an experience and not explain it. Make sure there is a point. period(.) lol.

I'm literally giving them page 217 from a hypothetical 300 page autobiography of my eventual life. It take place in the future. The question is not specific, so I thought why not have some giggles with it.
