Question about Pre-med/business school

ok, I'm really confused.

I've been reading and some schools have students apply to their business schools during their sophomore year in college, but other business schools you apply to after undergrad?

Like, if I go to undergrad at College A, I can still pursue a joint degree MBA/MD at a completely different graduate school, correct?

I also just realized how stupid this sounds considering it’s 2 am lol.

Some schools offer a B.A. or even a B.B.A. (Bachelors of Business administration) to undergraduates in a “business school”. Even more schools offer an M.B.A. (Masters) to post-graduate students. The best of them don’t want applicants right out of college but rather want them to have a few years of work experience. Typically dual degree students would apply to medical school and then apply to the MBA program after they have already matriculated. FWIW, that is a pretty uncommon combination of degrees since you can do health care administration quite well without an M.D. and a medical degree is just too hard to obtain to use it as an academic title. If you want to be a practicing physician, it would be very hard to justify the huge costs of 1-2 additional years of school and the delayed entry into the physician workforce. There may be some more value to that combination if you want to stay in academic medicine and spend a significant part of your time doing health care delivery research.
