Question about rec letters

<p>I notice that many people have said that most schools require two letters, one from a math/science teacher, and one from an English/social studies teacher; however, in the Common App they make no such distinction. So for the Common App, would it be possible to get two in say, English/social studies? (I plan to major in English)</p>

<p>And I plan to get a letter from my Journalism teacher. Would that count as an academic subject? (At our school, it is a class, after all.)</p>

<p>You shouldn't need to send two english teacher recs. Choose the strongest one and then find a math/science teacher who can also attest to your strengths. Or send both BUT also send a science/math one.</p>
