<p>SOME schools will accept supplementary recommendations. It depends on the school. Go to the school's websites and look for their recommendations criteria--you don't want to send off a supplementary recommendation to a school that doesn't accept them. Likewise, some schools will only require one recommendation from a high school teacher, and another can be from a professor.</p>
<p>However, I would strongly suggest having all required recommendations from people who know you in an academic/working capacity. "Knowing" is probably fine for supplementary, but I think it's better to have the necessary ones from people who have worked with you or taught or things of this sort.</p>
<p>It is not important to have a rec from someoneone who has only known you for a month.</p>
